This week the
ceiling grids are being installed in the main part of the library.
Work in this area will continue with updated HVAC, lighting, and

|
The computer
classrooms are open! The two PC classrooms, the MAC classroom, and
the self-study area all open in time for student classes. See more
photos under Phase II

July 15, 2004
|
The
computer classrooms are being carpeted, and lighting installed. The
furniture will be delivered next week. Projection equipment has been
ordered and will be installed in next two weeks. See photos!

May 17, 2004
|
Construction
of the library reference area continues with preparations for new
heating and cooling ducts, and wiring for new lighting.

April 5
|
Duct work begins
in subbasement and continues for approximately two weeks. This will
involve sheet metal work and drilling holes through a concrete wall.
Subbasement will be too noisy to study in during the work day (7am
- 4pm). That work should be completed around April 16th or so. See
alternative study area noted under March 22nd above.

Current journal stacks (1998 - 2004) open Mon - Fri from noon -
3pm. Access is from back door off basement corridor -- signs posted.
Staff will get journals needed during other hours.

Tunnel completed. Use library elevator to access sub-basement or
ground floor of library.

March 22
|
Reference desk,
eight public computers, and printer all functioning on Ground floor
(take elevator UP). 19 study carrels also on that floor. Each carrel
has a network connection so people with UCHC logon and password
can plug in their laptop and access library resources. The circulation
desk on the basement floor also has four wireless laptops that can
be loaned for temporary use to people with a UCHC logon and password
and a library barcode on their UCHC badge.

Computer Education
Center (CEC) Classrooms

August 26, 2004

The Computer
Education Center classrooms are open! The beautiful new PC classrooms,
the MAC classroom, the self-study and staff areas are all finished
on time and under budget. The first class orienting new students
was held August 16th.

|
HSEC MAC Lab in MDL A&B is sponsoring a handheld fair from 10
am to 2pm. Students are invited to look at the recommended PDAs
before making a purchase decision.

classrooms open ONLY through a basement corridor back door. Directional
signs and hours posted.
