Through their desktop, University of Connecticut faculty and researchers have access to an impressive array of online resources designed for locating current biomedical funding sources, promoting their work or sharing expertise with like-minded scientists half a world - or half a mile - away. The first two sources are limited to UCHC users; all other sites are searchable (for free) by anyone in the world. Please call Reference staff at 679-2942 if you have questions or comments about using these sources.

· Community of Science * http://www.cos.com/
Community of Science (COS) calls itself the "leading Internet site for the global Research & Development community", and has 480,000 subscribers from 1,600 universities, corporations or non-profit institutions worldwide! Registration is required. COS provides links to funding sources via federal or non-federal agencies, announcements of scientific meetings or conferences worldwide, current awareness "alerting" services and a chance for individual scientists to communicate and share expertise with colleagues involved in similar research internationally. To create an account, use a UCHC workstation to go to http://www.cos.com/ . Once you've set up a profile, use it to log in each time in order to view the full range of COS resources. Here are several points of access to this unique site:

- COS Federally Funded Research http://www.cos.com/cgi-bin/international/view/14/1
- COS Funding Opportunities http://fundingopps.cos.com/
- Meetings and Conferences from COS http://meetings.cos.com/
- Search COS Expertise http://expertise.cos.com/

· SPIN/InfoEd * http://www.infoed.org/new_spin/spinmain.asp
Sponsored Programs Information Network (SPIN) is an online source linking subscribers to InfoEd, a searchable database of funding opportunities from federal, non-federal, private and international agencies. Access is through IP recognition from a UCHC workstation or registration. First-time users are advised to begin by visiting InfoEd What's New page for search tips, at: http://www.infoed.org/home/message.stm
