The University of Connecticut
has recently become an institutional member of
BioMed Central. This means that all
researchers at this institution can now reap all the benefits of publishing
your research article in an open access journal without paying the usual $500
article processing charge. This is true
regardless of the number of papers you publish.
BioMed
Central publishes over 90 online journals, across the whole spectrum of biology
and medicine. For a full list, please go to http://www.biomedcentral.com/browse/journals/
When you submit your research to any of BioMed Central’s journals,
it will receive rigorous and rapid peer review. If your article is accepted:
Under the terms of our
membership, all relevant research articles generated at the University of
Connecticut will be listed on a specially created
member’s page on the BioMed Central site. Go to http://www.biomedcentral.com/inst/ and find our institution’s own page.
When
submitting a manuscript, either via a journal home page or via http://www.biomedcentral.com/manuscript/, you will be identified as
belonging to a member institute and automatically granted an article processing
charge waiver if you are within your institution’s firewall. If you are at home or at an external
terminal when submitting your paper, you can still claim a waiver by stating
your affiliation to your institution.
Authors who choose to publish their research
in BioMed Central’s journals are lending significant support to the open access
publishing movement. I hope that you
will take full advantage of our membership of BioMed Central, and submit your
next article to a BioMed Central journal.
