The Library has five laptop computers available for loan.

Who May Borrow
Anyone with a valid UCHC Library barcoded ID may borrow a laptop.

The circulation period is 24 hours. The circulation period may be renewed if there are no other patrons waiting for the laptops.

The patron will be required to sign a "Laptop Borrower's Agreement" outlining the patron's responsibilities if the laptops (or its parts) are not returned. The Agreement also states that the patron will abide by the UCHC IT Computer Use Policy.
Please be aware that use of the laptop is on a "self-service" basis. Printed instructions are provided to help you connect the cables and operate the laptop. Refer to the instructions for assistance.

Some procedures may be different than those followed at your desktop, notably logging on and saving documents, please be aware of these.

Library staff is not available to provide software application (Word, Excel, etc.) support. Utilize the "Help" menu in the application or refer to books in the library (see library catalog) regarding that application.
About The Laptops
The laptops are Lenovo Thinkpad T60 PCs. They are running Windows XP and Office 2003 with 1 gigabyte of RAM. The hard drive size is approximately 108 gigabytes. They have a USB floppy drive and a DVD-ROM/CD-RW drive. They may be used with AC power or off the battery. They have both wired and wireless network access and a modem. They have Internet Explorer, Firefox and Netscape installed. They also have the conversion utility installed that allows Office 2003 to read Office 2007 documents.

The laptops will be re-imaged each time they are returned to the library so you should remember to save any documents you've created on the C:\ drive to your own media.
