Life and Times of a Civil War Hospital

This annual joint event, sponsored by the Beaumont Medical Club, the Hartford Medical Society and the Robert U. Massey Medical Humanities Association, will be held on Friday, May 17, from 4:00-7:00 pm at the Connecticut Historical Society.
Speaker, Dr. Ira Spar, will talk about the Knight Hospital of New Haven. Dr. Spar's book: "New Haven's Civil War Hospital" will be coming out in October 2013. |

Members and friends of the Hartford Medical Society will have an opportunity to visit the Hartford Hospital Center for Education, Simulation and Innovation (CESI) on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 10:30 a.m.
This is a training facility started about a decade ago for the training of health professionals and paraprofessionals (like ambulance teams, helicopter crews, military corpsmen, etc.). It has received national attention in view of the current cultural expectation that learners will not be learning on patients but rather in simulated settings. |
