Service Information

Student required laptops come with Lenovo ThinkPad Protection which covers accidental damage. Students with laptops that require hardware service may contact Lenovo directly at: (800) 426-7378. When calling students will need to provide their laptop type, model, and serial number. Help with obtaining this information can be found at Lenovo's support phone list page. You may also speak with CEC student support staff if you have any questions or for assistance in diagnosing a hardware problem.

Laptop Service Steps

In the unlikely event that your laptop may have hardware problems, please stop by the CEC. We will perform preliminary diagnostics to determine if the problem is hardware related. Hardware problems are handled by Lenovo and are covered under the terms of your ThinkPad Protection warranty.

If it is determined that the problems may be hardware-related, please follow these steps:
  1. Place a call to Lenovo directly at: (800) 426-7378. When calling, students will need to provide their laptop type, model, and serial number. Help with obtaining this information can be found at Lenovo's support phone list page.

  2. If Lenovo determines that your laptop needs repair, Lenovo will overnight you a prepaid UPS shipping box for you to ship the laptop to their repair center.

  3. UCHC has a Customer Service drop off location in the Shipping and Receiving Department for all prepaid UPS laptop boxes. The Customer Service Entrance of the Shipping and Receiving Department is located at the West Receiving Dock. Please note that to ensure overnight shipping the last UPS Pickup at UCHC is 10:00 AM, Monday - Friday. You will need to drop off your laptop package to the Customer Service Help Desk prior to 10 AM.
    • Students will be held solely responsible for the laptop packages. The University of Connecticut Health Center and staff are not responsible for items dropped off in the Shipping and Receiving Department. Unauthorized personnel are not allowed anywhere in the Shipping and Receiving area, other than in the Customer Service Help Desk area.
    • Students are responsible for keeping a record of their package’s tracking number and any tracking information.

  4. Lenovo will ship the repaired laptop to your residence as specified on your service request.
