Laptop Support
The Computer Education Center works with the UConn Co-op and the schools of Medical and Dental Medicine to put together a list of recommended Laptop models for students to purchase. The recommended laptops have been tested to ensure that they support the Health Center's wireless network and the curricular software that students will be using. Recommended laptop models can be purchased through the UConn Co-op. The Computer Education Center is available to assist students with laptop questions and troubleshooting. Common questions include connecting to the wireless network, printing from a laptop to the CEC printers, and basic laptop troubleshooting. PDA Support
Every third year medical student is required to purchase a Windows based PDA to be used in clinical rotations. The Computer
Education Center works to test and recommend particular models to ensure that all curricular software will function properly
on these recommended models. Computer Education Center staff is available to assist students with setting up, answering
questions, and installing curricular software onto their PDAs. The Computer Education Center also includes PDA syncing

Multimedia Development Support
The Computer Education Center has Multimedia Development machines. These development stations have web and graphical
development software installed and various types of scanners attached for
scanning documents, pictures, and film. CEC Staff can assist with using the scanner as well as the software installed on

Blackboard Support
The UConn schools of medical and dental medicine use the Blackboard Learning System to manage online curricular content.
CEC Staff is available to assist students with using blackboard as well as questions and problems they may encounter.

One on One Tutoring
CEC Staff is also available to assist students with questions on a one-on-one basis. This can include questions such as
how to use a PDA and its programs, how to use a particular software package, laptop use and best practices, multimedia
development questions, blackboard usage, student selective projects, etc. Please contact CEC staff if you'd like to setup
a time for one-on-one tutoring.
